A Fruitful Day

I don’t know when was the last visit to Sakae Sushi cos I didn’t know they have revamped their menu until today, with choices of snow crabs and sumi udon series available.

ImageImage… so it’s a healthier choice huh 😉

Imagedon’t know if anyone actually bother to segregate. maybe for the fun of it. 😛

After settling off with the more important agenda of the today, we headed off to Le Chocolat Cafe, since it was nearby. I had wanted to try their rainbow cake and so off we go!

A nice white cafe along Ann Siang road, just next to Scarlet Hotel. They have both alfresco and indoor seating available. My dear sisters preferred the latter since the afternoon sun was a little warm.

There was a promotion for rainbow cake that goes with a cup of cuppa for S$11++. A worthy choice since a rainbow cake alone cost S$7 while a cup of latte cost S$6.50.

Image

In additional to the order, we ordered their layered choco cake too, and of cos 2 cups of cuppa.

We were a little disappointed to receive the latte art in the form of a leaf instead of the lady form shown in the promotion poster. According to the staff, only the boss/supervisor knows how to make the ‘lady’, and obviously they weren’t around 😦

Image

My first bite of it, I thought it tasted familiar. Something traditionally local than the usual cafe’s cake. You can try it for yourself and see if it’s truth. Maybe it’s my weird taste bud which somewhat seems disappointing 😦

Image

The layered choco cake (S$6.50) tasted richer and with a little bitter taste. This is however to my liking since I don’t like it too sweet. 🙂

Our next destination was something I had never did before. But before I touched on to that, let’s take a stroll down Ann Siang road. I love the beauty of this area. So tranquil and colourful. I told them I will explore each and every restaurants here bit by bit 😉

After receiving and reading so many news and photos shared out of Project Awareness FB, we decided we should sometimes do something to contribute to the society. Living in comfort since we were born, we would never understand the tough life some unfortunate ones had and are trying to struggle through.

Image

This granny for example. She has a son but in order not to burden her son and his family had decided to live on her own, living through her meager earnings by selling anything she can find. Project Awareness came to know about her case and started spreading the news online which seemed to be receiving quite overwhelming responses from the public. You may refer to their FB (http://www.facebook.com/ProjectAwarenessSG).

Imageshe was at the other end of this lane where the boys stood

3 students in their uniform were there when we arrived, and if I’m not wrong conducting an interview with her. After the interview, they had wanted to give her some breads as a small gesture but was turned down by the granny. She refused to accept it knowing they are students who are still schooling and not earning a single cent yet. However it would be ok if anyone were to buy something from her. She said she would rather earned it than accepting the money for free.

So my sisters and I decided to buy 2 of those old vcds which she was selling at S$1 each. But of cos we offered her more than that. We left and returned with some mineral waters for her to keep as we noticed she was on medication and quite a bundle. Though she rejected, we insisted and simply placed them beside her before we left. She gave us her warm smile and blessings as appreciation. 🙂

Next we moved on to the revamped Chinatown Point nearby in order to satisfy 大妹’s shopping mood.

Imagegals in skirt … esp short skirt, please beware of their grossy floorings. with the number of spotlights reflecting on the floor, it can almost reflect well of your inner wear too. >.<

Soon it was dinner time. We came by Sampo Korean Restaurant along Peck Seah in the afternoon and 小妹 chose for this for their BBQ set.

the BBQ set (S$49) + dolsot bibimbap (S$14)

The pork belly was a little tough and thicky after grilled on the hot metal plate. The chicken meat was nice though. But overall still a little disappointing. It can be better, especially the pork belly.

大妹 left off first while I accompanied 小妹 back to Le Chocolat Cafe for a Rainbow Cake to-go before we end our day.

Note: they do not spread chocolate fudge over the cake for to-go orders.
