Porridge Steamboat at Parklane Deli House

Have been to this place near a year ago and I kinda of missed it 😛 So when they asked for any suggestion to dine at Bugis, I suggested this place.

the meal I took last year

other than these raw selections, there are some other selections like vege, sausages, and many more at the buffet table too

Actually Lan and MZ are more of a ‘basic food’ person, so I rather quite doubted that they will fancy this place which offered porridge base for steamboat when they started to ask questions @_@

Anyway in the end they decided to go ahead with my suggestion and we headed off to Parklane Deli House for our porridge steamboat at Liang Seah St. which only cost S$14.80 NETT :-O

Well, as expected, they simply dun fancy PORRIDGE steamboat. Usually the waiter will suggest us to place in the flower crab and salted egg first to enhance the fragrance of the porridge which I did the first time I went there. The taste and fragrance was heavenly which attracted us to take more of the porridge though the then waitress suggested to us not to cos we might not have enough stomach to accomodated the buffet food.

After that time, I had been wanting to go there with other groups again. But too bad, this group doesn’t like it. 😦

sour spicy sauce … nice ^_^d

Please do not ask me wat sauce is this … cos I remember the waiter who suggested in helping me to mix a special sour & spicy formula used near 9 (or more?) different sauces that could be found in their sauce corner. Anyway I like the mix … the other 2 sticked to the normal chili sauce.

free ice cream each … dun remember having them the other time … I din take cos too full :p

We went back to PBJ after the dinner. After window-shopping around, we settled down a Terra Cafe (again) cos we missed the Tiramisu 😛

Basically I dun recall the f&b we ordered 😛

think it’s called Honey Green Tea … my order

something like french toast … this is yummy ^_*

a kind of coffee mix … bland taste … think their coffee are meant to taste like dat ba …

This time round upon payment, I remembered the NETS reward discount. Apparently the waiter knew nothing about the discount cos he looked puzzled when I told him about that. So I’m wondering how do I get the discount using NETS, and if I dun approach the cashier, how do I pay by NETS? I’m suprised when the waiter passed me the NETS gadget for keying in my pin no. … whao! so it’s wireless!!! And when I received the receipt, no discount leh … so how to do I claim? Got to check out the NETS reward programme webby.

This night we chatted till 1am+ @_@ … from Parklane Deli House to Terra Cafe (until closed hour) to nowhere but at the stone seat at Bugis Square … no choice … Lan got too much frustration to vend 😛 OMG!! … 2 days later I got to catch a midnite flight to Shanghai! Got to catch some sleep before that :S

Hi Tea @ Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scott

This gathering was planned way back in Mar when I got news that LN will be posted to texas for 2 years. Gathering date had been postponed and postponed till to date. No choice … we … ay … they are all busy career men and women 😛 And until the mummy-to-be said she ‘need’ to meet us before she give birth next mth ^_*

So many updated news for this gathering that near all came for the catch up.

First with LN posting to texas for 2 yrs, AT giving birth soon, HH pregrant again :D, and GR getting married at the end of the year … Whao! So many thing happened since our last gathering 10mths ago @_@

Anyway being the PIC to call for this gathering, I suggested hi tea @ Carousel. One which I went for their soft opening for invited guests ONLY early this year. That time was a dinner buffet. Big spread with fresh seafood and others.

If u have the chance, do go and have a look at the toilet on the 2nd level, just beside the Heat ultralounge.
The hotel executives then had actually ‘intro’ this toilet to us 😛

So after uncertainty confirmation, I made the booking and send out this ‘professional’ email to the rest 😛

I had made the reservation at Carousel for 10 pax on 23 Jun under “xxxxx”.

Hi-Tea is from 3.30-5.30 at the rate of S$28.50+++ (adult) and S$15+++ (child).

CC promotion is dunno wat royal plaza card 20%. 15% for citibank, uob … and dunno wat for Amex. (very messy :P)

Hotel is just beside Shaw Tower. Opp Far East Plaza. Whoever drive and want cheap parking fee, you can park at the carpark behind Wheelock pl 😛

Restaurant is just on the left when u came in from the main entrance which was renamed from Cafe Vienna.

We … I hope to see you all soon.

How? How? Sounds professional “P

And I was quite amazed with their super convenient phone booking system where u will be informed of all the informations regarding different buffets’ rate, cc promotions and so on, before u proceeded to place ur booking with the operator.

As usual, though I’m reported in advance to be late, I still the first to arrive there … and on the dot somemore ~_~

When the rest arrived, I realised those who drive had actually misread my note on the cheap parking part. Wheelock carpark was just a suggestion from me, and some thought there’s no parking place in the hotel or the nearest carpark was at Wheelock … and my dear mummy-to-be actually walked all the way from that carpark “P Luckily the other mummy-twice-to-be was ‘clever’ enough 😀 Oops! … hehehe …

Surprisingly GR managed to make it for the hi tea after returning back from JB.

The rare session was enjoyable and with lots of laughter … so much so that I ate quite little that day “P

So when’s the next session? BB’s full mth celebrations, CNY or when LN back on vacation a yr later? Nevertheless, LN, do remember to inform us 1 mth in advance so that we have enough time to coordinate our orders … ayy … gathering I mean … hehehe 😛

Hi Tea @ Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scott

Monkeys’ Mischief

Remember! Never … never go lunch with guys who are particular with food, easily hungry, full of questions, but did nothing to help.

2007062201sThis was prearranged farewell lunch for BH with our dept local staffs … cos the boss took too long to arrange one which can accomodate everyone’s timing. And so ended up SC arranging it and suggested lunching at New Seoul Korean Restaurant located at Peck Seah St.

Everything went ‘smooth’ until the actual day when some ‘small’ jap bosses knew about this farewell lunch and wanted to tag along (oh! we have to ‘behave’ then …).

Quite a fine place but ordering and serving took quite long for a weekday working lunch hour. And the irritable grumblings from the 3 ‘monkeys’ add on to the already messy orders, so much so that even when the food arrived, SC and I din enjoyed much.

SC and I had decided … we will come here again … but WITHOUT these ‘monkeys’ … they were simply too noisy that day …

Ok … I had a hard time matching the names to the right dishes cos only korean ‘pin-yin’ were shown on the receipt … so 如有错误,谨请原谅!:P And some dishes weren’t taken cos the ‘monkeys’ were too hungry for me to take pix 😦

Pa Jeon – green onion pancake (S$20)

Kimchi Haemul Jeon – kimchi with seafood and green onion pancake (S$20)

A La Carte Dish (S$20)

Hae Mul Tang L – Mixed seafood spicy soup (S$55)

Bul Nak Geon Gol – Soup with Mixed Octopus & Beef in Casserole (S$40)

Bossam – steamed pork with kimchi served with lettuce leaves (S$35)

Myon Nak-ji – Baby Octopus w Noodles (S$25)

Bul Go Gi – grilled beef (S$16)

Dark Bul Go Gi x2 – grilled chicken (S$16 ea.)

dunno wat dessert or drink was out of stock and so they serve this to us instead … which was actually coke … in bowl @_@

And think they short-charged us on the Samgyetang (chicken ginseng soup).

Anyway the bill, inclusive of drinks and other miscellaneous, came up to $295.90 … which was under company account ^_*

This evening, I met up with 大妹 for dinner at Tiong Bahru Sakae Sushi. Near 8+ I received a call from EK asking my whereabout cos few of them heading on to Botak Jones for dinner so was wondering I could drop by.

I dropped by the place after confirming on the phone upon reaching Clementi around 9+. EK, AG, FY and JT just finished their dinner. As the coffeeshop was getting warm, we headed off to Mc for chat with FY leaving for his next session at Zouk.

Monkeys’ Mischief

AMK (Ang Mo Kio) Hub … a place where I had wanted to go but was postponed a few times 😦

I had been ‘brain-washed’ by few ppl that the place doesn’t have much to shop … which I dun think so. If compared to Central, this one has much more to shop.

2007061602sAs NL will be working till late afternoon, we arranged to meet together with PL at AMK Hub around 5pm. So knowing that, 大妹 wanted me to meet up with her at CWP for lunch and shop around for her ‘big-sized tummy” clothes before I head off to AMK which is just 15mins stops away.

Everytime she tried on some ‘big-sized tummy” pants, she would suggest that I could buy them too … ** hmph! notti **

Somehow … ayy … most of the time somehow … my hp ‘will’ be in a low-batt state when I have any outing arrangements “P I switched off my hp to reserve the energy for contacting them when I reached AMK Hub. But who knows, when I switched on my hp around 4pm+, few call alerts came in. I thought wat has happened to NL :-O

Well, she happened to end her work early and could meet up earlier … @_@

Anyway, by the time I left CWP, I reached AMK Hub exactly the arranged time, 5pm and soon met up with NL and PL.

We started browsing from B1 which was said to have the most shops. Tried a few pants at G2000 … think I really need to cut down the fats on my tummy 😦 (has been taking too many dumplings recently). Anyway NL managed to buy a skirt there.

And I think we spent too much time at G2000 that we din really have time for the shops at L1 and we proceeded straight off for our dinner at Fish & Co. on L2.

There was a short queue by the time we reached the restaurant. But we were soon given a table and it was just beside the full length window. Nice view yah 🙂 I like the deco of this new branch. Very cosy (and cold).

They were having the promotion set meals for the new local movie, Legend Of The Sea. The plush toys look cute but my room has no more space for them “P

We ordered Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon, Peri Peri Fish, Sambal Fish, Wrasse Fillet.

PL’s order … Wrasse Fillet – Seasonal catch, grilled & served with tangy & spicy sauce. Like the rice.

My order … Peri Peri Fish (cun remember the actual dish name) – Whole line fish fried & served with peri peri sauce.

NL’s order … Sambal Fish – Whole line fish fried & served on a platter topped with sambal sauce. Think I still like this dish much.

Well, like what NL had mentioned in her blog, all the 3 dishes looks and taste the same. The only difference is the sauce.

I had wanted to order their grilled salmon but was reminded by PL that we already had a salmon dish … but who knows, after we had finished our main courses, our appetitiser still hasn’t arrived. So upon checking with another waitress did we realised that they had not taken down that order. Anyway might as well since we were already very full after our main courses … right time for mistake huh “P2007061628s

We proceed on with our ‘shoppings’ after our dinner … only at L3. Bought a mahjong hp strap for mummy … wish her luck for her mahjong game : )

2007061622sAs we walked along, upon reaching the escalator, we saw a crowd … some commotions were going on there. A character from the movie, Fantastic Four, were distributing phamplets … think for the promotion of the movie at mall’s Cathay Cineplex.

After browsing through the shops at L3, it was 9pm+. PL who had wanted to buy thing from the FairpriceXtra had suggested to make a move there while NL and I continued our browsing at other level. But we were interested with the FairpriceXtra too and so tagged along 😛

Whao! It was a mega supermarket! Just like that of the Giant Supermarket, though PL kept saying it was like the Carrefour cos she hasn’t been to Giant yet. But anyway, they are almost similar and I dun feel as feel I was in a NTUC supermarket at all. Weird us spent quite a while there. And by the time we came out from the mega supermarket, it was almost 10pm+.

2007061625sVery ‘reluctant’ to end the day, I suggested a rest and chat at any nearby cafe. So in the end we went to the Mc just across the hub and stayed till 11pm cos I still need to catch the last west train from Jurong. Who knows when I reached Jurong after 45mins of ride, there’s no more west service train at midnite liao … I would be able to catch it if not for taking the AMK Hub building to test out the nite mode for my new camera : (

(and so coincidencely I saw Ting and her hubby with her sleeping soundly in the same cabin).

**note** I had sharpened the image with the photoshop though the original one wasn’t that bad either which would be better if my hand is MORE stable.

So in the end I took a cab back hm from Jurong and dropped directly infront of my flat. Think it’s safer then going thru the construction-ing central ^_*

Nite @ Parco Bugis Junction

This dinner-cum-shopping was almost cancelled cos Cat couldn’t make it last min. I was all mentally ready to stay at home (cos just simply lazy) until MZ called and hoped I could accompany her to buy her DND clothes. ** DND clothes again @_@ … not that I have a good sense of fashion 😛 **

While waiting for her to come all the way from Tuas, I went to PacNet to downgrade my subscription just to maintain my email account, and made an upfront payment till end of the year in order to enjoy the 5% GST surcharge offer despites the increase from 1 July onwards.

Free portable MP3/MP4 speakers after the prepayment

Went to Kino for a look too cos 20% discount offer for members **blink! blink**

my fav illustration 向左走向右走 and 地下铁 magnet bookmarks

<150cm Life> and <BB comics handbook>

Had read good reviews of this <150cm Life> illustration book quite some times ago but I only decided to buy it now. So had to start from the first book before I head on for the next 5 books of this series. At the same time, this bb comics handbook captured my attention. After knowing that it was drawn by the local and published on 早报 before, but most importantly there wasn’t too much chinese characters, I decided to grab this last book for 大妹.

Soon MZ arrived and we headed off to V8 for our dinner before we started the search. Went to all possible boutiques and department, stayed till Seiyu closing time that we decided to call it off.

With our tired legs, we finally chosen Terra Cafe for our rest … and nite snack 😛

My fav for now until I found a better one cos this is heavenly with liquor taste

Ying Yang
Had expected something like the hk cafe Yuan Yang drink, but this mixture of coffee and tea taste rather bland.

Wedges with dunno-wat cheesy dip
We were shocked to see such big basket of wedges … I meant at this time of the day.
Anyway, their wedges were good (remember? I’m a potato fanatic :P). The cheesy dip wasn’t bad either.

Just a week ago, I sent an email to 大妹 informing her about the below mentioned promo …

But I only realised about that offer after I cleared my outbox emails @_@ Somemore I had already signed up the nets rewards programme for 3-4yrs : (

Anyway I just wondered do anyone really pay by nets? Cos usually patrons either pay by cash or credit cards. So ppl out there! Do make good use of the promo if you are in the programme ^_* AND pls check other promo as well incase u loose out 😛 **super kiasu**

Nite @ Parco Bugis Junction

The Central

Today is friends meal-ing day.

As arranged, I had lunch with XP and Cat at the Thai restaurant below my office building. XP’s office is just next building to mine, while Cat’s office is at Science Park I. So she had to travel down to have lunch with us.

We ordered pork stewed soup, seafood tom yam soup, green curry chicken soup, and fried fish cakes to share among us. I quite like this kind of sharing cos I could taste different soups. I find them yummy and reasonable pricings. Only some ‘yim-chim’ colleagues of mine dun like their food.

** din take any pix cos that area is my ‘turf’ so … 😛 **

At nite, I went out with Cat again.

I told her to come down to my working area and we walk down to Chinatown instead … cos I want to take the pix of the red dot museum gallery structure and also to see the newly opened temple that had a grand opening on thurs.

meiheongyuen04sThere was this place which I always like to bring my family, friends and melaka relatives to. Highly recommended by me 😛

Mei Heong Yuen desserts shop. It used to only occupied 1 unit, but had extended to the next door unit … think 2 years+ ago. Actually during most of my visits there, the waitresses were mostly in moody looks. Especially during peak period like dinner time, they were simply insensative to your presence and always put on a ‘puay song’ look which will make you even more ‘puay song’ after the long wait for taking your orders. Just like what happened during my trip with my sis 9 mths ago (oops! so long still can remember ^_* … I’m very revengeful hor … no lah! I happened to keep that email which I forward to my colleagues 😛 ). If not for the sake of taking the pix to show them, we would have left liao 😛

meiheongyuen03s meiheongyuen02s

20070607s 2007060111s

We ordered the carrot+yam+pumpkin cakes set, sesame paste, steamed fresh milk and salted dumplings. The salty dumplings I would say it’s heavenly. So far those whom I brought them to, all like the dumplings. ** if you say you dun like … conclusion is … you are super dupey yim-chim … you go make them yourself! … 😛 ** And it’s not many time you will be able to have a taste of it cos it’s out of stocks very fast. Like I said earlier, we were lucky, cos not only did we managed to order what we want, we could even da-bao-ed 6 back (4 were Cat’s one lah).

And that’s our ‘appetisers’ for the nite … hehehe … I had never like to eat proper meal at Chinatown cos there’s a lots of goodies around yeh.

One of the year newly opened malls, Central was our next target … contributed to my heartlands shopping malls.

Anyway we were lucky today cos the waitresses/waiters were all in smily face. They were very patient in taking our orders too … cos Cat was not familiar with the desserts and took a long while to place our orders.

Not a bad place though one of my friends who only commented nothing much there. Hmm … as compared to those at Orchard and Bugis, it’s indeed nothing much. Well it’s just a matter of how you see it. But still, as a new mall, other than those common boutiques like Bossini, Charles & Keith, City Chain, so on … there are still some newly innovative shops around. From what I see, there are 2 atriums, where the inner atrium seems mostly restaurants. Not very sure cos shops on level 4 and around the other atriums were not fully opened … ay … kinda of maze too cos the escalator can just appear out of ‘nowhere’ 😛

Oh ya! To add on to our luckiness for the nite, we met a friendly and soft-spoken sale guy at City Chain which helped us a lot in searching for budgetted watches. And got freebies from him somemore … shhh … cannot tell 😛

We hang around there till 9pm+ before we decided to walk over to Clarke Quay for our … ay … supper?

Not knowing where for ‘supper’, Cat suggested Coffee Club … since the taxistand is just outside @_@

It was always full house with a emtpy table for 2 but without the arm-chair (the next table girl has taken it to put her bags #$%&^&). The waitress asked if we could take the bar counter instead. I found awkward sitting at the bar counter (cos only the 2 of us there), so she told us to wait for a while for an empty table near the bar counter which seats were like round sandbag. And so we temporary seated at the bar counter where chairs height were up till my heart area. I had a hard time ‘climbing’ up =~_~= Plus we had so many paper bags with us, other than temporary putting them on the small seat-face-area of the tall chair beside us, we had to put some on the bar counter, which was really very unsightly 😛

While waiting for an empty table, another waiter came by to ask if we would like to order their promotional sandwiches. And yes, our luck again, this guy was very friendly … knowing how uneasy we were, he briefly suggested to us on ordering our food first while the other waitresses cleared for emtpy table. And just as we were finished our orders, Cat spotted a empty table near the wall which came with an arm chair. So being a super kiasu me, I immediately tell him: “quick! quick!”. He got my signal and ‘dashed’ all the way to clear that table … funnie sight hahaha …

slipper lobster linguini

smoked salmon sandwich

country pie

tira latte

We ordered smoked salmon sandwich, slipper lobster linguini, and country pie to share. But we regretted when the spaghetti and the country pie came. The small round table couldn’t accomodate the 2 dishes plus our 2 small empty plate. So quickly we divided out the spaghetti to our own plate before the sandwich order came.

As we chatted along, being a big glutton, I finished up almost 90% of the sandwich :-O What a filling ‘supper’!!! 😛

We stayed till 11.30pm before we took cab back home.
